UPDATE - unfortunately, due to illness, the 'meet the brewer' session has had to be cancelled. Wickwar apologies for any inconvenience cause.

We’re very pleased to have three Wickwar pubs as official Bristol Beer Week venues this year. The Punchbowl, in particular, highlights the local brewery’s ethos of taking historical, somewhat run down pubs and transforming them into modern venues that retain the classic features that made them great places to drink good beer.

Wednesday's 'meet the brewer' session has been replaced with tasters of three 1/3 pints of real ale for just £2.70, along with a food paired menu available from Thursday 19 October.

In addition, the Punchbowl will be hosting a quiz on the first Sunday starting at 7.30pm, which will include a special beer based round and beery prizes.

Here’s some more information about The Punchbowl:

Located in the heart of Old Market, Bristol, this historical building is whispered to date back to 1806. Owned by various wine merchants throughout the years, it was 1872 that the pub first opened its doors as the Punch Bowl, Bristol.

Every effort has been made to retain the character of this Grade II listed building to deliver a relaxed and welcoming intimacy, with a contemporary Wickwar twist. The snug entrance has been opened up to create a comfortable, yet cozy drinking space, while the back of the bar forms an open plan dining area, leading into a modernised, enchanted beer garden.
